| The family came to England in 1932. After Ruth was born in February 1933 they went to live in Valencia, Spain. The Anglo-SouthAmerican Bank was in trouble and they returned to live in Hampton-on-Thames. After their mother died on 29 March 1943, the children went to live with their Grandmother. A year later the three children were evacuated to Huddersfield until the end of the war, when they returned to live with their father in Goudhurst in Kent. In 1946, the family moved again to Edenbridge, Kent. |
